Raleigh Downtown Farmer's Market: What's The Buzz?

Triangle - Food & Dining

logoYou can get your local produce and artisan baked goods right in the heart of downtown Raleigh every Wednesday at the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market. The market is open from 10am-2pm in City Plaza through the end of Tomato RainbowOctober.  At market this summer you will find a variety of produce from the area’s local farmers including heirloom tomatoes, juicy watermelons, eggplant, sweet corn, summer squash, cucumbers, and much more!  Also find farm raised chicken, eggs, and beef, the freshest catches of North Carolina seafood, goat and cow cheeses, local artisan breads and pastries, handmade ice cream, fresh pastas, and much more at market all season.

Stop by at lunchtime to try our delicious local lunch meals prepared by Interfaith Food Shuttle and buKu, and enjoy live music each week while you shop and eat!  In addition to live music and local lunch options each week, don’t miss upcoming events at market including a celebration of National Farmers Market Week on August 10, and one of our most highly anticipated events of the season, A Taste of Restaurant Week, on August 24.

During A Taste of Restaurant Week on Wednesday, August 24, market goers can taste what happens when local chefs meet local farmers! Chefs from downtown Raleigh’s finest restaurants will team up with market farmers to create complimentary, bite-sized tastings in celebration of Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week. Participating restaurants: 18 Seaboard, Babylon, buku, Busy Bee Cafe, Market Restaurant, The Mint, Red Room, Solas, and Zely & Ritz. Lunch will be sold by Coon Rock Farm. Enjoy this opportunity to sample the creations of local chefs, see cooking demonstrations by members of The Chef’s Academy, win raffle prizes, pick up free recipes, and much more! Plus, enjoy a special lunchtime concert preview programmed by Hopscotch.

But you need not wait until the end of August to enjoy the Market. On August 10, we celebrate National Farmers Market Week—we will showcase the unique and quality products at the Market this summer.  Stop by our tasting tent to sample crisp and juicy local veggies, learn storage tips, and pick up recipes. Also, a special guest Tarheel Foodie will be at the market sampling some of her favorite eggplant dishes. She’ll be ready to answer all your local produce and cooking questions as well! Join us for this great opportunity to enjoy our local farmers coming together to feed our community!
