Harmoniously Combining Local Chefs and Farmers for Tasty Palette Pleasers

The Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market, located each week at City Plaza, invites foodies to taste a glimpse of menu items from nine Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week venues at A Taste of Restaurant Week on Wednesday, August 24 from 10 am–2 pm. This special market event highlights the culinary talent of chefs participating in Restaurant Week—a weeklong dining extravaganza featuring three-course prix fixe dinners for $20 or $30. A Taste of Restaurant Week offers complimentary bite-sized tastings created by nine Restaurant Week participants. This harmonious combination unites Raleigh’s talented chefs with the freshest locally grown ingredients for irresistible palette pleasers. Participating restaurants include 18 Seaboard, ,Babylon, buku, Busy Bee Café, Market Restaurant,The Mint, Red Room, Solas, and Zely & Ritz.

The culinary experience at the farmers market will also feature cooking demonstrations by The Chef’s Academy, where both food connoisseurs and novices alike can learn chef techniques from the masters to use in their home kitchens. Enjoy a great performance by Jack the Radio, programmed by Hopscotch, downtown’s independent music festival. Kids can dance in style after getting farmer friendly temporary tattoos from the Organic Valley booth. After savoring tasty bites, market-goers won’t want to miss a lunch featuring local products sold and prepared by Coon Rock Farm with their own heritage breed bratwurst.

The Third Annual Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week is Monday, August 22-Sunday, August 28. As always, participating restaurants will offer three-course prix fixe dinners for $20 or $30 per person, depending on the venue. For added value, select venues will also offer three-course beer or wine pairings available for an additional $10.
